Synopsis: One of the best built trails in Whistler, Kill Me Thrill Me has a little of everything for the single track fiend, including switch back climbs, bridges, logs, and big granite slick rock drops (which really are slick, unlike Moab's sandstone).
Trailhead Access: Ride north on Highway 99 for about 6 km, past Green Lake and the Emerald Estates subdivision. Just past Emerald Estates, look for a gravel logging road on the left, marked with a small Forest Service sign reading, "Cougar Mt., Showh Lakes". The enterance to Kill Me Thrill Me is about 200 metres farther up the highway, just before the concrete barrier on the left (there is a small wooden sign). If you reach the municipal heliport, you have gone too far.
The Ride: After turning left off of the highway, follow the trail into the woods. The trail is pretty straight forward, winding through the forest, crossing a couple of streams then climbing up through some switch backs before spitting you out at the heliport. Head over to the far left side of the gravel area, and you will find the trail again.
From the heliport the trail heads back into the forest, running back and forth, making excellent use of natural terrain features. After a couple more bridges over small creeks some granny gear climbing will bring you to a nice rock outcrop with great views. A little rest at this point could be a good idea, since the next section of trail includes some steep descending through the granite slick rock. Use caution if it has been raining, as the granite is scary when wet.
Eventually the trail will meet up with an old road bed, which will lead you back to Highway 99. Once at the highway, hang a right and follow the road back to Whistler, or if you have a little more jam, look for the turn off for the Wedgemont hiking trail and take the Green Lake trail back to town.
Riding Time: About an hour off road, not including the highway riding.
